School Habitat Hunt!

Today we went on a habitat hunt around the school.  We found lots of different habitats and discussed why only certain animals live there.

Can anyone in Year 2 remember what animals we saw?

If a frog lived under a rock it wouldn’t servive as it needs water.

I saw some worms in the soil. I also saw a beautiful dragonfly by the pond. We saw some ants climbing on the branches of the tree. I was hoping to see a spider but we didn’t see one. There was a black and blue butterfly sat on the bushes. I also saw some birds in their nest. A squirrel was in the trees.

I saw some massive spiders that had hairy legs and big eyes, I also saw a pond full of frogs and frog-spawn, Charles saw a snail there as well. Near the end of the hunt I spotted a nest full of birds on the top of the tree and on the bottom thousands of ants started to walk in a single file line, on the way back I saw some fluffy bumble bees collecting nectar from a nearby flower. 😀

I like it because of the green algae and because of the frogspawn and the baby tadpoles!
